ANDREW'S BIO
Andrew Waines is a 19 year old singer/songwriter/guitarist based out of Ottawa, Canada. Andrew combines a unique mix of soft rock, pop and blues into both his original songs as well as his creative remixes of covers. He is building a strong social media following thru Youtube, Instagram and Facebook, and is impressing many at his live performances around the Ottawa live music scene.
Recently back from Nashville, where he recorded his first single "Lovin' Carefully", Andrew is excited about his first major step in the Music Business. "Lovin' Carefully" is a pop/blues style song that speaks to the idea of the hardships that can occur when someone does not make smart decisions with their heart. With everyone desperate to find love, the honesty in building a sincere relationship is lost which is conveyed in the song.
Andrew's parents pushed him into music at an early age, enrolling him in Piano / Music For Young Children at age 6, but Andrew was uninterested to say the least. School, competitive soccer and other endeavours became his focus. However, a few years later, in Grade 7, Andrew followed his brothers' lead and joined the Guitar Club at his elementary school. He enrolled in private guitar lessons, first with his brother and then on his own, and ironically even started playing piano. But his true passion was the guitar, rarely not in his hands, playing classic rock and blues with his major influences being the likes of John Mayer, Ed Sheeran, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and even all the way from Guns N Roses , The 1975 to James Bay. By Grade 10 (2012), Andrew was asked to join Jordan McIntosh's Country Band as rhythm guitarist and over the next two years honed his guitar and peformance skills playing at Ottawa Bluesfest, Boots & Hearts Country Music Festival and Cavendish PEI Beach Festival to name a few of the big venues.
Since then, Andrew has been focusing on solo work in the soft-rock-blues genre; developing his sound and writing a dozen or more original songs, one of which he has just recorded in Nashville. In the last few months he has worked hard at both his social media presence and his live performances around Ottawa. His Youtube channel is growing and includes a collection of high quality produced music videos and a regular segment of 'live/acoustic covers by request'. Andrew's latest performances include solo acoustic sets at Gaia Java Coffee House, Cafe Dekcuf and Avant Garde Bar, as well as feature radio performances on both CKCU-FM's Ottawa Live Music and RBX Radio's Sound Check shows. And all this while attending second year of Business at Carleton University.
Andrew is an exceptionally talented guitarist with a strong soulful voice, a passion for music and a tenacious drive to succeed.
